EduCAT Frequently Asked Questions
-
When I log I get a “page cannot be found" error.
In order to be active in eduCAT, an individual has to have either active job data or active POI data. If they do not have one or the other active, they will not be active in eduCAT.
Once Human Resources makes that correction, it will take between 24 and 48 hours for the eduCAT account to become active.
-
When I log in it says “credentials cannot be verified”
The CIS password and uNID combination is not correct. The most common issue is the individual never changed their password from the default birthday password. That default password will not work to access eduCAT.
The second most common cause is they entered a u in front of their ID number instead of entering the leading 0. Should be eight digits total, starting with two zero’s.
If the password was never changed, go to www.cis.utah.edu
Click on the “forgot your password” link and follow the prompts. If it allows the user to change their password, then allow up to minutes for that to migrate to eduCAT. After that they should be able to log in.
If unable to change password in CIS, then call the help desk at 587-6000

I’m using my Mac and it is not working. What can I do?
EduCAT does not support Mac computers. It only works with PC’s. While our vendor is working on making it available in other formats, that is still months away.
That does not change the fact that these assignments are due. While we understand it is frustrating, there are options. This can be done on any PC, so we recommend finding a friend that will let you borrow their computer, or going to a computer lab.
These are mandated by various federal agencies, and we are required to show compliance. This impacts our organization in many ways, and compliance is critical.
-
My session timed out and will not let me log back in.
Make sure you are not accessing eduCAT through any portal of any kind. Do not use intercomm or the globe to access it. When those time it, it times out the eduCAT also.
Instead, log directly into eduCAT at http://educat.utah.edu

I have an assignment I should not have. How do I get it removed?
Modules are normally only removed if they were assigned in error. To have an assignment removed have your manager send an email to educat@utah.edu
- Your name
- Your id number
- The exact name of the assignment
- Why the manger believes it was in error
We will review and determine if the assignment can be removed. We will reply to the manager letting them know if we did or did not remove the assignment.

I want to be able to run reports in eduCAT. How do I get set up so I can see my employees in eduCAT?
In order to grant eduCAT reporter access for employees, or to add and delete DeptIDs to those already set up with access, a Human Resources Web Application Security Request Form will need to be completed for each employee.
When completing the security request form(s), please do the following:

2) Complete all form fields listed on the first page of the security document, and check the eduCAT box in Section 1 of the form.
3) On the second page of the security document:
a) Indicate Add (or remove)in the Action field
b) list the DeptID in the ORGID/DEPT# field
c) check the box for eduCAT Reporter
(note: complete steps a,b, and c for each DeptID being requested)
4) Obtain the signature and initials of the employee for whom access is being requested (must sign and initial first page of the security document)
5) Obtain the department head's signature for the DeptIDs being requested .
6) If this is for eduCAT reporter access ONLY, email the form to David Ahlemann. If you are requesting other access along with eduCAT, send the form to your HR representative.
